New Visa Application Procedure at the Embassy of Belgium in London

Visa applications can now be submitted in person without a prior appointment. Applications may also be sent by post for those residing outside of the M25. Postal applications can be sent by special delivery to:

A visa application can be submitted by the following:

1) Applicant him/herself.
2) Immediate family member of the applicant (i.e. Father, Mother, Sibling, Spouse/Civil Partner or Child with an authority letter and proof of relationship. Marriage / Civil Partnership document or Birth certificate will be the only documents accepted as proof of relationship)

Applications accepted at the Belgium Visa Application Center will be submitted on the next working day to the Embassy of Belgium for a decision. The visa processing time is a minimum of 48 hours provided that a complete file is submitted. But, it may take longer in certain cases.

All visa decisions are solely at the discretion of the Embassy of Belgium, London .

Applicants are strongly advised to track the status of their application on our website after 48 hours not before 1030am of submission before collecting their passport at the Belgium Visa Application Centre.

Please note that for all countries listed in the link the processing time is at least 15 working days. * Please view the exceptions.

[ Visas are normally dealt with within 48 hours except for the nationals of countries marked below:
Afghanistan,Belarussia,Burundi, Colombia, Congo (DCR), Egypt, Guinea (Equatorial), Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Jordan,Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Libya,Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Philippines, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Surinam, Syria, Yemen + Palestinian Authority, Refugees, Stateless,Tunisia and Vietnam .

In this case, please make your application well in advance (3 weeks MINIMUM, no more than 90 days before travel) because the procedure can take at least 15 working days for most of these countries).

Applicants from these exception countries are requested to provide all their travel arrangements. Applicants need to take in consideration the processing time. ]

Applicants who are NOT a UK resident and who hold a Type C visit visa need to be aware that their application can take between 5 and 15 working days to process. In this case, the travel arrangements will not be required at the application stage.

Each applicant (child included) must have their own passport in order to apply at the Belgium Visa Application Centre. If, by law, the child does not have the right to hold their own passport, applicant must provide a letter from their Embassy/Consular Mission clearly stating this fact.

Should a family member plan to collect the processed application on the applicant's behalf, he/she needs to carry a Photo Id of himself/herself and an authority letter from the applicant.

Processed applications can also be returned by Special Delivery at an additional cost. Alternatively, you can enclose a Special Delivery envelope when sending a postal application.

Applicants now have the option of paying their visa fees by Credit/Debit card (only at the Visa Application Centre) or Postal Orders in the name of Belgium Visa Application Centre. Fees in Cash will also be accepted. Cheques will not be accepted. Payments can be sent by post or paid in person at the time of submission of your visa application.

Along with the visa fees, there is a service charge of £24 (inclusive of VAT) applicable per visa application from the 1st of June 2008 for all visa applications.

Criteria’s to contact this centre are the following

  • Be a pupil at a general education primary, secondary school or sixth form college.
  • Be on an organized school trip with their school/ be accompanied by a teacher from their school.
  • Have their own valid passport or travel document in their own name.
  • Have evidence in their passport of their residency status in the UK (a stamp or document within their passport which confirms that they are currently resident in the UK ).
